The black and silver mount displays its branding prominently on the unit, but disappears behind the touchscreen when not in use. Its adhesive suction cup liner was easy to peel off and attach to the back of the touchscreen.

EVehicle Pro Tip: Be sure to follow instructions about where to place the adhesive suction cup on the touchscreen (and make sure the release tab points downward).

Fit/Performance

The phone mount attaches to the back of the touchscreen by high-quality 3M adhesive, industry-tested to remain secure in temperatures ranging from -40 to 194 degrees F. The design does not block the phone’s charging port. Bumps in the road (and sudden stops) didn’t phase the mount and our phones remained secure. We also liked that you only need one hand to snap your phone in and out of the mount. 

Unique Features

Other phone mounts can block the view of your speedometer, but VICSEED does not. We also really liked the super strong magnets (VICSEED uses twelve strong N52 magnets instead of the six weaker N48 magnets on other brands) that keep all phones secure even during the most aggressive accelerations, sudden stops and bumpy roads.

Fit/Performance

We were a bit leery about how secure the mount would be in our cup holder. We expected the top-heavy system to fall over, especially when supporting a heavier iPhone like the 14 Pro Max. We were pleasantly surprised! Once the mount was tightened into place (like opening and closing the lid on a jar), it was very stable. 

We especially like the quick-release button that, when pressed, extends the arms so you can insert the phone. When released, the arms snap back into place to secure it. Pressing the same button also releases the phone.

The flexible gooseneck connects the phone to the base and allowed us to rotate the phone 360 degrees for the perfect placement – even the height was adjustable for our taller drivers. 

While driving, we could easily adjust the placement of our phones and switch between landscape and portrait orientations. We were worried that our drivers would have to turn their heads to the side to view the phone (and take eyes off the road), but were pleasantly surprised that we could adjust the mount for perfect viewing (it could sit right in front of the touchscreen). The mount did not block our phones’ charging ports.

Unique Features

Taptes claims this cup holder mount is superior to dash mounts, as it helps protect your phone against damaging heat and UV radiation that is stronger on the dash. Although we can see the benefit, our team uses Cabin Overheat Protection and sunshades to keep our sensitive electronics and interior from overheating, so this wasn’t an issue for us.

The adjustable height and gooseneck flexibility were a really positive feature – most of our owners were pleasantly surprised at how much they liked this feature. The drawback to a cup holder mount is that it removes the driver’s options for holding water bottles, coffee or other drinks. One of our drivers almost always has a coffee on the go, and for this reason she decided to go with a different phone mount. Our newlywed Tesla couple loves to hold hands (and yes, they were the ones that tested Romance Mode!) and felt the cup holder mount made that more awkward. 

Price and Value

This Taptes cupholder iPhone mount costs a little bit more than some, but is really secure and we think it is a great option if you prefer to keep your dash clutter-free and your visibility 100% clear. However, if you need wireless charging, use your cup holder often for beverages, are left-handed or like to hold hands with your passenger, you may want to opt for a different type of mount.

We applied the adhesive during the hot summer months and have not experienced any issues, although we regularly use Cabin Overheat Protection and sunshades to keep the interior cool.

All our Tesla owners liked the holder’s low-profile design, so you don’t have to worry about your phone obstructing your view while driving.

Our phones were super easy to attach to and remove from the magnet.

We also really liked the built-in wireless charger which gave us peace of mind during long road trips that our phones wouldn’t run out of juice.
